Health and well-being

Genes can play a role in our overall health and well-being, either by modifying the risk of certain diseases, or by influencing the impact of our lifestyle on our health. The HEALTHYgenes genetic profile serves as a basis for personalising our habits.

What is analysed?

HEALTHYgenes assesses genetic polymorphisms related to:

• Hepatic detoxification, which is necessary for the proper elimination of xenobiotics.

• Nutrigenetics, including the utilisation of fats, sugars and caffeine metabolism, among others.

• Intestinal pathologies such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, primary lactose intolerance and coeliac disease are also assessed.

• The immune system and its ability to activate and respond to infections, including immune response, inflammation and vitamin availability.

• The genetic risk of thrombosis.

• Dental health, where the genetic risk of caries, bruxism and periodontitis is assessed.

Objectives

It aims to identify processes in which genetics is most unfavourable and to propose measures to enhance health with regard to these processes, with the ultimate goal of improving long-term well-being. It can also help in the diagnosis of common pathologies with a genetic cause, such as haemochromatosis, coeliac disease, lactose intolerance or histamine intolerance.
